Questions & Answers:
Q. Does OCL take the place of our regular giving?
A. No. the ongoing ministry of BP is dependent on the regular giving of
members and attendees. At this time our monthly operational needs are
$28,209.00. That will still be there and in fact may need to increase
as we grow. OCL gifts should be above and beyond your regular tithes
and offerings. We are asking that BP members and attendees continue to
give sacrificially to our general budget.
Q. Where did the idea for OCL come from?
A. OCL came from the belief that God has some crazy things in store for our church. We believe that a demonstration of crazy love for God will move us toward becoming all God wants us to be.
Q. Who oversees the distribution of OCL funds?
A. Our staff in counsel with our Elders and Management Team will decide all matters related to OCL. The Elders and Management Team are comprised of men and women who bring a variety of skills and backgrounds to the leadership process of BP. They provide counsel, accountability, and insight for our staff.
Q. What if we don’t meet our goal?
A. We strongly believe that the goals we have set are both attainable and realistic. We do know however, it will take a crazy outpouring of God’s love in and through His people. If the actual offering taken is less than our goal, we will use the percentages set as a guide for dispersing the funds we do receive.
Q. What if we exceed our goal?
A. We think that it is quite possible we will. In fact we anticipate it happening. If so, we will use the same percentage guide to allocate and disperse funds.
Q. Why do we have 2 different focuses in each OCL?
A. Acts 1:8 comands us to be God's witnesses in "Jerusalem, and
in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." OCL gives us a
chance to live out that command.
Q. Can I give an OCL gift at a time other than those designated?
A. Yes. You may give towards OCL at any time. All gifts given on dates other than those we have set will be included with the previous OCL offering unless designated otherwise.
Q. It seems crazy to have a special offering during this economy. Are you sure we can pull it off?
A. Yes! When you think about it, most of us still have it really good. God has blessed us in so many ways. We are convinced that there is no better time than now to demonstrate our faith that He will continue to bless us. This is an opportunity to show our gratitude for all He has done in our lives.
